We all know about the importance and great usefulness of creating a model of our project, both to have a better visualization and spatial understanding of the object within its possible context, and for a formal presentation to the customer.
Which style do you prefer, a physical or a 3D model?
There is a great debate here but the trend is to produce fewer and fewer physical models both for reasons of time and money.
In my opinion, however, wooden or plastic models will always give us a more realistic vision. As presented in this example, an archaeological complex in the rural area near Turin, Italy. Here we had a great example of implementing new construction within pre-existing structures.
It includes an archaeological park with museum, restaurant and B&B.
A skeleton structure recalls the presence of the farmhouse that was demolished to make space for the excavations, which are partly protected by a roof structure in X-LAM and glass. The museum is set up inside the old barn, restored and secured. The new restaurant, the B&B and the caretaker's house are designed in X-LAM.

Conosciamo tutti l'importanza e la grande utilità di creare un modello del nostro progetto, sia per avere una migliore visualizzazione e comprensione spaziale dell'oggetto nel suo possibile contesto, sia per una presentazione formale al cliente.
Quale stile preferite, quello di una maquette o di un modello 3D?
Il dibattito è grande, ma la tendenza è quella di produrre sempre meno plastici sia per ragioni di tempo che di denaro.
A mio avviso però i modelli fisici ci daranno sempre una visione più realistica principalmente per progetti che prevedono un nuovo intervento dentro una preesistenza, come in questo progetto di un’area archeologica all’interno di un lotto pre-esistente nell’area rurale di Avigliana.
Il progetto include un parco archeologico con annesso museo, ristorante e un B&B. Una stuttura a scheletro richiama la presenza della cascina demolita per far spazio agli scavi, i quali sono in parte protetti da una struttura di copertura in X-LAM e vetro. Il museo è allestito all’interno dell’antico fienile, restaurato e messo in sicurezza. Il nuovo ristorante, il B&B e la casa del custode sono progettati in X-LAM.
